Good morning, this is まさきん.
The Rakuten Super SALE feature pages always include a small playful campaign. One of them is the “Okaimono Panda Hunt.” I have rewritten the post I published in September so the mechanics are easier to understand.
To say it up front, the September 2026 round has already ended. In this post, I am keeping a record of what the September round involved. I have also laid out how it differs from past rounds and how to take part.
*This information is current as of publication. Please check the official websites for the latest terms.
- The September 2026 round (August 28 to September 11) has already ended
- The campaign is a prize draw where you find pandas hidden on designated pages and enter
- It had two tiers: 100 points for the first spot (9,100 winners) and 9,900 points for the second spot (100 winners)
- In the December 2025, June 2026 and September 2026 rounds, the number of winners and the maximum points were the same
- Under the terms, Rakuten Group employees and people involved in the campaign cannot enter
What Is the Okaimono Panda Hunt?
The “Okaimono Panda Hunt” is a prize draw held during the Rakuten Super SALE. The URL of the official page includes the name “find-quiz.”
Okaimono Panda is Rakuten’s official character. It debuted in May 2013 as a set of Rakuten Ichiba LINE stickers. That panda hides somewhere on the sale’s feature pages.
When you find it and tap it, you go to an entry page. Entering there puts you into the draw for points.
It is not a campaign decided by how much you spend. You just browse the pages and look, so I think it is easy to join in like a game. Honestly, it is probably one of the most casual campaigns during the sale.
The September 2026 Round Has Already Ended
The September 2026 Rakuten Super SALE ended at 1:59 a.m. on September 11. The panda hunt also closed at the same time.
If you open the official Super SALE page now, it shows a notice that the sale has ended. The September round’s campaign page can still be viewed, but you cannot enter.
The prize points were scheduled to be granted around October 15. As of writing this post, that scheduled date has passed.
What the September 2026 Round Involved
The September 2026 round was notable for being split into two periods. I summarized what the official page said in a table.
| Item | September 2026 round |
|---|---|
| Early period | August 28, 2026 (Fri) 10:00 to September 4 (Fri) 19:59 |
| Draw eligibility period | September 4, 2026 (Fri) 20:00 to September 11 (Fri) 01:59 |
| Target pages | 2 out of 12 pages |
| Number of hidden spots | 2 |
| Prize A | 100 points for the first spot, 9,100 winners by draw |
| Prize B | 9,900 points for the second spot, 100 winners by draw |
| Early-period bonus | Finding it raises your entries to 2 |
| Scheduled point grant | Around October 15, 2026 (Thu) |
| Point expiration | November 30, 2026 (Mon) 23:59 |
The page said that finding it during the early period would raise your number of entries to 2. The design gives a better chance of winning to people who got moving before the main sale.
The campaign page used the same URL for the early period and the main sale. The official page also encouraged people to bookmark it.
The Draw Has Two Tiers
The draw has two tiers: Prize A and Prize B. This part is a little confusing, so I organized it in a table.
| Prize | Requirement | Points | Number of winners |
|---|---|---|---|
| Prize A | Find either one spot and enter | 100 points | 9,100 |
| Prize B | Find both spots and enter at both | 9,900 points | 100 |
The “up to 10,000 points” in the headline is the total if you win both A and B. 100 points plus 9,900 points comes to exactly 10,000 points.
The page said that winning Prize A does not take away your chance at Prize B. If you find both spots, you can take part in both draws.
The total number of winners comes to 9,200. By my calculation, the total points given out are 1.9 million. The 100-winner slot feels narrow, but I thought Prize A’s slot was surprisingly wide.
How to Take Part
The steps were nearly the same every round. Putting the official page’s explanation in order, it goes like this.
- Log in to your Rakuten member account
- Open the target pages listed on the campaign page
- Scroll slowly through the pages and look for the panda
- Tap the panda illustration
- Enter on the entry page you are taken to
- Find the second spot the same way and enter
The important thing is to log in before you start looking. If you are not logged in, the panda does not appear on the page.
The other point is to finish entering. Just tapping the panda does not make you eligible for the draw. The first and second spots also take you to separate entry pages.
The order in which you find them was said not to matter. Whichever you find first, entering twice makes you eligible for Prize B.
Comparison with Past Rounds
The same kind of campaign has been held with every Super SALE. Here are the three rounds whose details I could confirm on official pages.
| Round | Draw eligibility period | Target pages | Number of winners | Maximum points | Scheduled grant |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| December 2025 | December 4 20:00 to December 11 01:59 | 2 of 12 pages, 2 spots | 9,100 + 100 | 10,000 points | Around January 15, 2026 |
| June 2026 | June 4 20:00 to June 11 01:59 | 2 of 12 pages, 2 spots | 9,100 + 100 | 10,000 points | Around July 15, 2026 |
| September 2026 | September 4 20:00 to September 11 01:59 | 2 of 12 pages, 2 spots | 9,100 + 100 | 10,000 points | Around October 15, 2026 |
Side by side, all three rounds had almost the same framework. The number of winners and the point allocation did not change either. The only difference I could see was the early period and the “2 entries” mechanic unique to the September round.
The URL of the June 2025 round’s page also still showed up in search results. However, I could not open it now, so I did not include it in the table. I have also left out any other rounds I could not confirm on official sources.
A Rough Guide to When Super SALE Is Held
Rakuten Super SALE is a major sale held several times a year. Within what I could confirm on official pages, it was held in December, June and September.
Generally, four times a year in March, June, September and December is considered the norm. Each round lasts about a week, and rounds have consistently started at 8 p.m. on the 4th.
That said, the dates are announced officially for each round. There is also no promise that the panda hunt will be held at the next Super SALE. Please check the official announcement to see whether it is held.
The run-up to Super SALE is also a good time to review your household’s fixed costs. While you plan your shopping, why not take another look at your monthly phone bill too?
Clicking this opens the Rakuten login page. Once you log in, you’ll see the campaign details.
What You Get Is Limited-Time Points
What you are granted if you win is limited-time points. The time from grant to expiration was roughly a month and a half.
For the September 2026 round, they are granted around October 15 and expire on November 30. For the December and June rounds too, the expiration was the end of the month after the grant.
Limited-time points are easy to forget to use. Deciding how to use them when you win may make you less likely to let them go to waste.
The page said that winners are announced by way of the point grant itself. You check whether you won in your point history on Rakuten PointClub. It also said that individual inquiries about whether you won will not be answered.
Rakuten Group Employees Cannot Take Part
The terms’ notes included the following sentence. The December 2025, June 2026 and September 2026 rounds all had the same wording.
It clearly states, “Entries by Rakuten Group employees and people involved in the campaign are prohibited.” I work for the Rakuten Group, so I cannot take part in this campaign.
So I have never searched for the panda and entered myself. When I wrote the September post, I was thinking of asking my wife to look for it. I plan to ask her the same way the next time it is held.
If you are in the same position, be careful not to enter with your own account. It is wise to check for yourself whether the terms apply to you.
Common Mistakes and Pitfalls
The mechanics are simple, but there are a few points where people tend to stumble. I picked out what to watch for from the notes on the official page.
- Searching without logging in and not finding the panda
- Tapping the panda and forgetting to enter
- Stopping at the first spot and not meeting the conditions for Prize B
- Assuming you can enter again even though you already entered
- Missing the expiration date of your prize points and not using them
Forgetting to enter seems especially common. The official page also states that if you do not enter, you are not eligible for the draw.
Note also that the panda may still appear after you have entered. Entry is limited to once per person per prize, so you cannot enter a second time.
If the same person has multiple registrations, they are also ineligible. When your family takes part, each person will need to enter with their own account.
What You Can Do to Prepare for the Next Round
It is not yet known when the next round will be held. Even so, you can prepare so you can move quickly when it is.
- Confirm your Rakuten member ID and password
- Check whether you fall under any of the exclusions in the terms
- Watch the official announcements so you can bookmark the campaign page
- Think about how you will use the points if you win
- Check the announcement for whether there is an early period
In rounds with an early period like September’s, the sooner you found the panda, the better. When the announcement comes out, checking the periods first seems like a good idea.
For the sale shopping itself, I recommend setting a separate budget. I explained how to review afterward in how to review only discretionary spending after Rakuten Super SALE.
I laid out the multipliers and caps for shop-hopping in designing your points for shop-hopping. If you do not have a Rakuten Card, the Rakuten Card sign-up bonus during Super SALE may also be useful.

Summary
The Okaimono Panda Hunt is a campaign where you look for pandas hidden on the sale pages and enter a draw. The September 2026 round has already ended.
Comparing the last three rounds, the number of winners and maximum points followed the same pattern. If there is any difference, it is small mechanics like the September round’s early period. Whether there will be a next round, we can only wait for the official announcement.
Since I am not allowed to take part myself, it looks like I will leave it to my family. It is a casual campaign, so thinking of it as a little break between sale shopping may be just right.
While you prepare for the sale, why not think about reviewing your phone bill as well?
