Rakuten Securities: Get 2,000 Points by Answering a Quiz and Opening an Account

Good morning. It’s まさきん.

I came across a quiz-style campaign on the Rakuten Securities website. Answer correctly and you can get 2,000 points.

What type of campaign is this?

Using the campaign types I sorted out before, this one is close to a new-sign-up bonus. What makes it a little different is that it starts with a quiz.

The official name is the “Account Opening Campaign.” It seems to be aimed at people who do not yet have a Rakuten Securities account.

It is open to Rakuten members applying for a new account. Minors, corporations and IFA (Independent Financial Advisor) clients are not eligible.

Conditions for getting the 2,000 points

The conditions are simple. First, answer the quiz on the page correctly.

Next, apply for an account using the “Open a free account” button. After that, complete account opening, initial setup and My Number registration.

The final step is logging in one more time. Only once you have done all of this are the conditions met.

The points arrive fairly quickly. If you meet the conditions on a weekday, they can be credited as early as the next day. On weekends and public holidays, it is as early as two business days later.

What you receive is Rakuten Securities points. These can be exchanged 1:1 for Rakuten Points. If your point course is set to Rakuten Points, it looks like the exchange happens automatically.

Rakuten Mobile is also one of the eligible services. You can sign up through my referral, and if you switch carriers you get up to 14,000 points. If you want to cut your phone bill, take a look at this too.

Things that were a little confusing

The quiz itself is actually not that hard. The question was about point rewards for paying with a Rakuten Card.

It is multiple choice, so there is no need to be nervous. The real hurdle is the steps that come after.

Account opening, initial setup, My Number registration, logging in again: there are quite a few steps in a row. If you stop partway through, you will not meet the conditions.

It seems easy to put off just the My Number registration and then forget about it. You also need to be a little careful about how you access the page.

Apparently, coming in via a bookmark or private browsing may make you ineligible. Accessing directly from the banner is probably the safest option.

What to check before applying

First, make sure you do not already have a Rakuten Securities account. People with an existing account are not eligible.

Next, check your point course setting. How you receive the points depends on whether you have chosen the “Rakuten Points course.”

It also helps to have a picture of what you will do after opening the account. I wrote a record of trying point investing to get SPU +1x, so feel free to read that as well.

Summary

This campaign gives you 2,000 points if you answer the quiz correctly and go all the way through account opening, initial setup, My Number registration and logging in again. The conditions themselves are simple, but watch out for the number of steps.

Points and conditions may change in the future. If you are thinking of applying, always check the latest information on the official Rakuten Securities website. Anything about investing here is just an explanation of how things generally work and is not investment advice.

This time it was a campaign for Rakuten Securities alone. You can also sign up for Rakuten Mobile through my referral. Switching carriers gets you up to 14,000 points, so if you have not yet, have a look at this too.

Starting with the December 2026 contribution, the iDeCo monthly cap rises to 62,000 yen for employees and public servants and to 75,000 yen for the self-employed. How Many Years Count Toward the iDeCo Retirement Income Deduction? Contribution Period vs. Total Enrollment Period, and How to Check

When you take iDeCo as a lump sum, the retirement income deduction depends on the period in which you actually paid contributions. Up to 20 years it is 400,000 yen × years; beyond 20 years it is 8,000,000 yen + 700,000 yen × the excess years. This post covers how that differs from the total enrollment period, how to check your own period, and the overlap adjustment (within the 9 preceding years) that applies from January 2026.
